A very good violin for playing.
When playing through an amp I have found the instrument has a natural resonance from the body without putting on the reverb and such.
If you want that "fiddle" sound just add overdrive keeping the amp volume down and use the violin built in volume control. Set the high control just above the low control, and you get that "fiddle" drive, especially for rock, and bluegrass.
I did find the fingerboard a little "wide" and a bit uncomfortable at the start, and the bridge needs to be lowered about a mm. I would also suggest changing out the strings for a higher quality set, but that is usual with any violins below $500.00
It is a little bit heavier than an acoustic violin, but remember it is solid maple wiith electronics, such as you would find with acoustic and elcetric guitars as well.
If I would score out of 1 to 10, I would definitely give this instrument a go0d solid 9.
